History Agneta Lindberg founded d|o|m in 2005, after having already gathered initial experience in the photographic services segment in 2000. She was quick to identify the growing demand among business customers, for customised digital printing solutions and innovative photographic products. Peter Sommer joined the company as an active partner, and became actively involved in the development of the company.Already upon commencing operations, d|o|m took over the Photo-Business division at Sommer Corporate Media (SCM) in order to utilise synergies and resources. Professional competence and an innovative market launch brought the young company forward at a rapid pace, and already at the end of 2006, the printing professionals, now with twice as many staff, celebrated the production of the 100,000th photo book. At the beginning of 2007, Elanders, the Swedish printing giant, integrated SCM (and thus also the up-and-coming Waiblingen-based company) into its holdings. Since then, d|o|m has been responsible for the "Photo-Business" unit of this globally active group, and also produces for the new Elanders branches in Newcastle and Göteborg, which were founded in mid-2007. Within three years, this company, based in Waiblingen (near Stuttgart) developed into the fastest-growing player in the digital printing industry. As a result of the continuing expansion, in November 2007, management, staff and partners inaugurated one of the most modern digital printing centres in Europe. At the start of the new year, on the strength of the booming digital printing industry, d|o|m invested comprehensively in the fields of software development, logistics and production. This investment made a noticeable contribution to an increase in capacity, as well as to quality assurance, while also creating jobs in Waiblingen. By 2010, Deutsche Online Medien GmbH will ascertain a cross-market position as leading innovator in photographic and printing services. |
